I am another Queenslander who has migrated down to Melbourne. Turns out there are many of us down here! I grew up mostly in Brisbane, with stints in the tropics, on the Gold Coast and most recently in Toowoomba, prior to making the big move down to Victoria three years ago. I am undertaking a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with the Monash Business School. In my undergraduate studies I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Queensland.

I have always worked full-time alongside my studies, spending time working for a top-tier law firm, followed by a number of roles in the Queensland public service with the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, Queensland Health and the Crime and Corruption Commission. In my time in Victoria I have worked for the Department of Health and Human Services prior to joining the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

I have a passion for social policy, population health and wellbeing – particularly the power of education to improve health outcomes and disrupt entrenched disadvantage. I have started my MBA to help sharpen the focus of my career as an advocate and advisor, and will forge a career focused on the points where government, not-for-profit and private enterprise can partner for social impact. I believe this can happen  through investing capital, leveraging cross-sector capabilities and connecting resources with populations in need, as well as policy and legislation changes that enable communities to thrive.

I am really excited to join the MGA Executive Committee in 2020/21 and feel very fortunate to have been appointed as the Vice President. During my time in the role I hope to increase awareness of the MGA amongst all graduate students, as well as enhance the amount of engagement and community we can build virtually while we work and study more remotely than ever before.

Personal Interests
